Here is the link to the profi web site..there is "quick start" and "Q500 instructions" on these pages.

http://www.flycontrolline.com/Profi%20Q500%206.5cc.htm <link

Also from Jim Booker
"The correct propeller for the Profi is the old 8.75x8.5 or 8.75x9W. The ground rpm will only be 16000 and it will not run at full throttle for more than 5 seconds so you have to hold the throttle at ½ until just before the launch. It stages on the pipe and goes very fast. Figure out the needle which you have to get close by flying the model and leaning until it hits properly on the launch. Too lean and it runs fine but not fast, too rich and it runs fine but not peaking on the pipe. "

Mine seems to favor the 8.8/8.75. It will peek this prop at about 19.3 to 19.5 on the ground. This is on 15% nitro. I don't know what it will do on FAI fuel. The head shim I use is .005. The engine comes new with about .012 to .015 total. The thicker shims should be used until the engine has had a few ground runs and flights with a prop that will allow the engine to get up past 20k on the ground. As Johnson said don't let it run wide open on the ground for more than 5 seconds. I don't even like 5 seconds. It will fall of the pipe and then take 200 or 300 ft after launch to get back on the pipe then a lap to unload. And then still not go very fast. You will have to get the best needle in the air. After I've got the needle set I start the engine at 2/3 throttle and leave it there until 5 seconds before launch. It's generally getting on the pipe just when my caller is turning it loose. When the needle is set right the motor is running at about 18.5 to 18.7 on the ground.
Mine doesn't blow Nelson plugs unless I get it too lean.

2 of the top pilots in the world received their profi's to test out before the rest of the shipments were sent out. By the end of the first day of racing the new engine it was back in its original box ready to be shipped back, and the nelson was put back on.

I certainly agree with that. Mine is about equivalent to a Nelson SS. To bad the for Profi that the LS was already racing. Also to bad you can't get new Nelsons any more.

Sorry, But not is correct! my Profi is more fast that a Nelson SS, is more equivalent a Nelson LS.

Test with my Ninja@Profi w/prop 8.8x8.75 vs. Black Jack@Nelson SS. w/prop 8.8x8.75

What is the best time you have with the profi? I used to fly with pilots that were flying the Short Stroke Nelson 1:03 to 1:07 all day long.

I think the Profi is an excellent engine. I really like how it is made, the quality is top notch. However I struggled to get it to run times close to the Neslon. I found it about par with a SS Neslon, I also think they ran the same. They both acted very calm on the ground and unloaded as equal in the air. But the LS Nelson is every bit of 2-5 seconds faster. Maybe Profi would make an LS copy?

If anyone wants to buy my Profi quickee motor, just ask. I'd take $250 for it..

Well the words we heard out of Ballenstedt on the nmpra forum and the German forum would indicate that Rob is working on a LS that is not quite there. If it works out for F3D maybe Profi can take advantage for Q500 if Rob helps them. Not that I'm big on Profi but with Nelson backing slowly out it would be nice even for just the entertainment value to have more than one motor (Jett) in the mix.

The MB long stroke has been tested by the dutch team for about 2 1/2 - 3 years now. They were running it in Czech with us 2 years ago. It's not as good as the current MB, but Rob will continue to work on it for sure. From what I've been told, it has the power...but it lacks the consistency. It burns plugs and pistons on a regular basis. And that's with the current world champ tuning it. I saw they had a new piston they were trying, it had square type holes cut through the sides of the piston to help cool it. But I think they were breaking pistons just as much with that design.

Whether the F3D knowledge trickles down to Profi is yet to be seen. If I was a betting man, I'd say there is no way Rob is getting involved in making Q500 or Q40 engines. He is heavy into control line speed and stunt motors, plus his obvious passion with F3D engines.
