RE: Getting started in pylon?
Here are a couple options. The first one is a premium mount and sells for about $35. The other sells for about $15.
Jett Q500 Mount is listed below. You have to use the TT40 mounting bolts for a Thunder Tiger Pro 40. http://www.darrolcady.com/Jett_Produ...t_products.htm A universal backplate mount is listed below: http://www.darrolcady.com/Accessorie....htm#dcrcmount |
RE: Getting started in pylon?
ORIGINAL: dasquirrelisme Is there any decent flat back plate mounts for the TT pro 40? The viper one looks like a POS and the but didnt want to pay a fortune. It dont have to fit in the crankcase. I have a nice one but the bolt pattern is different. The Viper backplate mount works just fine. Try it - I have used them on all of my 424 planes for years without a problem. Kurt |
RE: Getting started in pylon?
The stock one is nice, need locktite everywhere. I have used them with very good success. I just dont like the slotted mounting area they use to accomodat other power plants. But it does work. I do prefer the Jett mount for the TT Pro 40 as it is drilled exactly.

Not worth the added cost for someone just starting out.

Almost got the Viper ready. I bought it with a glassed fuse and I decided to recover the wing. Gotta order the engine mount this weekend and change the bearings out in the TT40.

RE: Getting started in pylon?
I agree, I just started flying RC last spring, was interested in Racing to help me improve my flying and challenge myself. I flew my first successful 424 race last fall and I'm hooked. The big thing is confidence. I'm also going to fly EF1 this spring. I was lucky to have some guys pushing, you will damage or crash planes but with some help you will adjust and improve. You learn more by doing for sure. Lot's of stuff will be new to you. For the most part racing folks like to help, give advice and be supportive. Good luck, fly hard, fly a lot, turn left and go fast!!!
