I am new to gas engines and have a quadra 42 on an 30% extra.
I don't have the manual for the engine and cant figure out which one
is the low speed adjustment and which one is high speed adjustment .
The adjustments are on the front end of the engine and it has to be stopped in order to adjust,
I go from bad to worse.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

I to am new to gas - can't even get my Quadra 42 to fire yet. I have the manual (from 1991 - bought the engine unused from an estate sale). This book doesn't have anything in it about which screw is which, but on my Walbro stck carb, the screws are labeled "L" and "H" - the high being the one furthest from the engine, the low is closest. Hope this helps. By the way, I took the spring starter off mine for weight minimizing (like it helps this brick much), and I have unassisted magneto spark - I haven't been able to get the darn thing to fire on 93 octane with about 19:1 ratio of lawnboy ashless. I thought the extra oil would be good for break in, but I'm wondering if this or trying to flip-start my quad my be to difficult a task. Any advice?

Hello, Should be marked on the Carb by the needles, inside/L outside/H. Adjust the low first. Start about 1&1/2 turns out on both.

The carbs are always marked with "H' and "L" at the needles. Usually the "outside" needle is the "H" or high speed needle. Start at 1 1/4 turns out and adjust in SMALL increments ... 1/8 turns !!!
