Default First 4-stroke, question...

I have a Magnum .30 4-stroke and I don't have the manual. I'm sure I hook the carb nipple to fuel and the exhaust nipple to pressure the tank but what/where am I supposed to do with the crankcase nipple?
I know some will laugh but I'm "old school" 2-stroker getting back into RC. Never had one of these fancy 4-C before...

Thanks!

nothing..leave the CC nipple open to breath.....it's a vent.

people who laugh are the ones who never actually fly either........we have a couple sideline hecklers at our field......they can point out every reason in the book why some poor guy is having problems, but somehow can't seem to get their own models in the air when the time comes to put up.

Run a piece of fuel tubing from the CC vent to some place that when it dribbles oil, it will be outside the engine compartment.

Sounds like you fly at the Merced club too. I just loved the peanut gallery. We had Mr. YS that spouted Pearls of Wisdom, never saw him with anything bigger then a .46 OS but he was going to give me lessons on my engines. The peanut gallery contained 10 to 12 on any given weekend.

you're close.....look at my town
i sat things out for a couple Sundays....there was one old timey guy that rideculed every single flyer that went up................made me sick to my stomach.
the same guy goes over to and older beloved members house a few days later to find out what it was he had just bought from someone........i laughed my azz off.
nothing worse than a person who claims to know it all.

I'm in NV now but I used to fly the Fresburg field once in a while. I was at a lot of the IMAA events, the warm up for Castle. I flew Merced and Planada most the time. It was closer to Mariposa. The Planada club put on the Castle event but almost no one in the club flew!!

my Dad was stationed at Castle til he retired in '73.
use to fly at a little air field up at Balico..........talk about no problem with landing..........you had strip as far as you needed from either direction..........when i came to Fresno i really had to finally learn how to land as it was at Woodward park back then......a friggin postage stamp by comparison.

i think though when we were at Balico, it was the Modesto club..........great bunch of guys.

At the Castle event we had the one small grass area just on the other side of the field, other then that it was wide open flat. For some reason the giant scale pilots had a problem keeping there planes out of that littla patch?? Never could figure that out. Here I fly on a 7 sq. mi. flat dry lake. Pretty hard to miss the run way but I'm not the only one that has hit the pin board!!! The only stick up out there!!!

Dry lake beds in every direction you go out here. My wife works out at Primm and there is a big one right behind the hotels/casinos she works at. We also have a couple of very nice fields owned and operated by Parks and Rec. one on the north side of town and one on the so. East. Before the gas crunch and the rise in prices in Vegas this used to be the meca of RC. Bill Bennett started the TOC here. He owned Circus Circus and loved RC. The East field is named after him.

There are 3 Dry lakes within 15min of town. With 2.4, its great place to fly. Going to Eldorado Sun morning if you want to join us Gene.
