Default Prop Question

Flying a 1/4 Scale BUSA Clipped Wing Cub...OS 1.20 two stroke up front swinging a 16 x 6. Heard you can also possibly swing a 15 x 10. The plane is flying great, just wondering if I would notice much of a difference if I tried the 15 x 10.

Input appreciated

Default RE: Prop Question

One can experiment as much as one would want in my opinion. The plane flies great you say so were it me, I would do a series of ground pull tests with the plane and annotate those findings on a self made chart.. then start to experiment with the other prop brands/pitches/types as you see fit. Keep track of static pull readings, RPM, and maybe even keep a close eye on the CHT as loading the engine with too much prop can very well cause an overheating issue as well. I say give it a shot, you may find that you will be better off with what you have already or you may find a little gem. Also something to consider is how much room you have to take off.. A steeper pitch prop will take a bit longer to spool up and give you the speed that you need for take off.. I hope that all helps!

Default RE: Prop Question

It's a Cub, all a smaller prop with a bigger pitch will make it fly faster at full throttle. The engine has a big spread of props you can test. My 1.20 fly's my Extra the way I like the plane to fly with a 15X8 APC. Itried 5 different props before I decided that. If you want to slow it down a little and get more pull then try a 16X4. Prop testing can be fun.
