long wing on car roof rack?
I want to transport my Stik's 7 foot one-piece wing on my SUV's roof rack. I thought about building or buying an 8 foot box (where to buy?); or putting the wing between two large batts of grey foam (where to find?) and using bungees to tie down the arrangement. I'd be grateful for any ideas about how to do this in a safe and secure way.

RE: long wing on car roof rack?
You can get the Dow BluCore house insulation sheets at HomeDepot or Lowes and make a wing envelope and carefully tie that down.

Two are the main considerations:
1) Cushion the surface of contact between the rack elements and the wing.
2) Hold the wing down (and also up and sideways) preventing accidental lift from the wind generated by the speed of the SUV.
Additional considerations:
3) Protect control surfaces, linkages and servos from accidental over-loads due to tie-downs and/or flutter.
4) Protect wing from rain.

RE: long wing on car roof rack?
I have put my one piece Sr. Telemaster wing through both of my back windows. A little foam wrapped around where the windows come up to "hold" it in place. About a foot or so, out each window.
