Amish, I guess soon, I will owe Greyhond money for storing my plane.
Amish, I guess soon, I will owe Greyhond money for storing my plane.
Greyhound does have a storage charge ... (clipped from the GreyhoundExpress website: http://www.shipgreyhound.com/terms/
Storage Charges
Free Storage Time: Three (3) weekdays after notification of arrival, not including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Storage Charges: A charge in the amount of two dollars ($2.00) per day or fraction thereof, not to exceed fifty dollars ($50.00) per month will be made for each shipment.
Also on the page is their "insurance policy" ... again, I clipped it from the above website link);
Value: No single shipment (Prepaid, Collect, or C.O.D.) will be accepted for transportation that exceeds one thousand dollars ($1,000) in actual or released value. Released or declared value is the value agreed upon between the shipper and the carrier as evidenced by the uniform receipt given to the shipper by the carrier at the time of shipment or within a reasonable time thereafter or as agreed upon. With the exception of Xpress Baggage Service shipments, excess value charges will be assessed for any shipment with value greater than one hundred dollars ($100). Xpress Baggage Service shipments will be assessed excess value charges for any shipment with value greater than two hundred, fifty dollars ($250).
Excess Value Charges
Value Declared in US$ - (Zone A-D shipments with the exception of Xpress Baggage Service) Excess Value Charge Value Declared in US$ - (Xpress Baggage Service) Excess Value Charge
$0-$100 Free $0-$250 Free
$101-$300 $2.00 $251-$300 $2.00
$301-$500 $4.00 $301-$500 $4.00
$501-$700 $6.00 $501-$700 $6.00
$701-$1,000 $8.00 $701-$1,000 $8.00
Shipments destined to Zone E locations are limited to a maximum of $300 declared value. First $100 of value is free, over $100 to $300, an excess value charge of $5.00
Zone E locations are those locations that are more than 1,000 miles from point of shipment.
If you take a look at their shipping policies on the above page link, you probably won't want to ship via Greyhound again.
Shall I quote Ozzie again?

The reason Greyhound insured the package for just $300 is because of the distance between the shipping point and the delivery point.
This distance is 1,000 miles or more. According to Greyhound Policy (and I know this because I had a similar issue), Greyhound will allow full insurance on a package if shipped to destinations within 1,000 miles of shipping point. For distances greater than 1,000 miles (and sometimes when packages need to be transferred to four or more busses to reach the final destination), Greyhound will only allow a $300.00 insurance maximum.

All this Blame Shifting is pretty boring.
The fact will always remain,, You sent the plane you valued @ $500+ insured for only $300,, that was your choice,, not Paypal or RCU's
How's the $300 Claim With Greyhound coming?

Now, here is another thought.
If you buy an item through RCU and use paypal to pay for it. Doesnt that make RCU a party to the claim anyway? If it werent for RCU, the buyer would have never seen your plane or made an offer on it or could give you a rating on it. So in a way, RCU is involved with this. They just dont think they are. Im sure in a court situation, the court would take that in consideration. Just something RCU might want to look into also
Hey Denny, had to take some time from posting for a day to get some actual work done LOL
One day, Ill be in your neighborhood and we are going to have a few beers and talk of old times on here

RE: Greyhound shipped plane, LOST! , HELP!
LOL< I am getting the sinking feeling this is turning into a hostage sitaution. Nobody move, or the plane gets it!
Thanks for sharing the information. It is obvious some here dont want people to know and make informed decisions, and to the I say ____ you. Wow, it was only four letters but it wouldnt let me type them.
I am glad as a group, we have been able to, (by posting constructively here), get RCU to make their seller/buyer agreement align with Paypals. I was pleased the Administrator took time to read and understand what was involved in this event.
When I started this thread, I agreed with and was going by the RCU contract language, now I see it a lot clearer. I was under the mistaken impression that Paypal would base their claim decision on te RCU contract. I sure was wrong.
Now that I understand that Paypal doesnt care about any agreement made outside of the Paypal agreeemnt, I see things need to be handled differently. Greyhound is a completely diffferent issue. I think if RCUs contract was aligned instead of opposite of Paypals, this situation would have been a lot different. Again, the Greyhound issue is a completely separate matter. As I said before, I only paid $50 for the plane at a swap meet, I will actually still make money if I get my $300 from Greyhound. I just feel bad the buyer didnt get his plane. I think he was really looking forward to getting it.
If Greyhound were to find the plane and offer it back to me instead of the $300, I would rather take the plane if it is in good condition. Either way, we have helped others learn and make better shipping and payment decisions. I will post the Greyhound events as they occur, again to help others understand. Not just to whine like some try to make it sound like. More adult supervision while kids are on the computer would help that. I am not a religious person, but I will pray that they wont be able to reproduce.

Sounds good Denny. If you come up I-24 which you probably will to get to I-65. I can meet you at Manchester TN. Exit 111.
Here at Tullahoma, there is a full sized BT13. The gentleman that owned it, I believe his last name was Barkley, is no longer able to fly due to age, I think.... Last I saw of it it was buried away in a hanger. Sweet looking plane you have there. I bet it fly's just as good as it looks.
I got this serious rash on the back of my head on one side I thought would be gone by now Put off going to the doc today thinking I would be ok. Guess Ill have to do a walk in clinic tommorrow. Got huge buldges now and hurts like hell. Just my luck. We got the warbird meet next weekend. A cold front is scheduled to come through here thursday and temps are supposed to drop from high 90's and low 100's to upper 80's and low humidity. I hope this isnt serious and I dont miss it [>:]
While Im at the clinic, I'll ask around about your plane Denny.
It reminds me of that game...Where in the world is Waldo.... LOL

RE: Greyhound shipped plane, LOST! , HELP!
invertmast. I dont know of any hobby shops down there but Sarasota RC Squadron is a great club. From the intersection of I-75 and Bee Ridge road, head east on Bee Ridge Road, it will dead end into the landfill after maybe 4 miles, the field is to the right, up on the hill, yes, a hill, actually part of the landfill. There are phone numbers at the gate, use your cell and hopefully someone can get you in right away. That field is one of my favorites to fly at. If you like scale warbirds, there are usually plenty there. With the heat this month, not sure how busy it will be.

I think I know what what happened to my plane, here is a current picture of the Providence Greyhound terminal. The buses at the Providence terminal seem too old and small for the bog box.

I dont feel so bad about my Greyhound experience, apparently it could be a lot worse as per this example...
Greyhound has ba__s, just glad they arent mine.
