Default Help:Dubro inflatable tires

I have these Dubro inflatable tires and the brass connector which supposedly is used to air it up. But, I have a hand pump and the needle is way to big to fit in the brass connector which screws into the tire.

In a nutshell I am looking for your experiences on airing up these tires.

Thanks for the help.

Default Help:Dubro inflatable tires

Dubro has an air pump made especially for these tires and it comes with the correct fitting.

Default Help:Dubro inflatable tires

My LHS informed me that DuBro no longer sells their pump so I use a Volly Ball pump, just slip a short piece of fuel line over the brass fitting and the other end over the needle on the pump. The needle end will be a little lose so I tye it on with those electrical straps pulled up as tight as I can get it. Don't over inflate, it can bust the plastic hub (doen't ask).

Thanks, i will do that. Do you screw the brass sleeve all he way ino the tire?

Does it leak air while you are un-screwing the brass sleeve?

Yes I turn all the way in and yes you will lose a little air it helps to kink the line as tight as you can while removing the air valve.

Default DuBro tires

A friend of mine had the same problem and wanted me to ask someone at the Toledo show DuBro booth about a solution. I learned that there is a fitting that was available in their new catalog and the gentleman suggested that my friend buy a basketball pump and use a hose to connect to the fitting. He also stated that it was important to suspend the model, in my friend's case a Cub, off of the wheels and inflate to the tire's dimension. That would ensure the tire had the scale baloon look. Hope this helps.

Also a good Idea to store your plane up on blocks and off the tires as they will form flat spots on the tires. I have a small ball hand pump that has a small plastic nozzle that screws into the pump. I ran a small section of hose from it to the filler for the tires.

Default Flight box size tire pump

I picked up a bigger syringe at the vet and hooked up the brass connector with some fuel line. Using a t fitting attach a one way check valve to one outlet of the t fitting with the other end of the check valve open to atmosphere. Install check valve so air can flow into the syringe when when you pull it back and it seals off when you push in on the syringe forcing the air into the tire. If you want to insure you don't loose any air from the tire you can install a secound check valve in the line to the tire in such a way the air can go into the tire but can't get out. Pump away. And it fits IN your flight box.
