A123 idle time
Hi,
I am getting straight on how to charge and discharge A123's
But how long should we leave them charged up , before we discharge to 50%?

I'm certainly not the last word on the subject but I can tell you that I've been using them for a while and they don't self discharge and they don't seem to be affected by sitting fully charged for long (weeks in some cases) periods.
I'll call Richard at WrongWayRC where I get my packs and check though.

RE: A123 idle time
Good question.
I'm like Andy, i've left mine fully charged for days with no problem or
discharge issues. I leave them partially discharge for a week sometimes.
IMO, these are great batteries,

Mine have help a full charge over the winter. This year on the first charge they only took 300ma each. they had sat from Nov. until March. always cycle each one in the spring. Dennis

RE: A123 idle time
The reason I asked is, I am not flying like I thought I would and don't want to leave them charged too long.
As I read this I realized I don't have to leave them charged all the time . It does not take that long to bring them up , to go flying.
I guess a week or a little more is ok???

Oh a week isn't anything. If you are going to store them for a month or longer, a storage charge makes sense. Put your planes up after flying without recharging and you'll have it just about right.
