A lot of us make them from carbon fiber arrow shafts. Check with Central Hobbies, that is where I have bought them instead of Chief.

Oh yes Whiterock there most certainly is and that alternative is Derrol Cady (correct spelling) and here is a direct link to his website and the page with a tutorial on useing the two different sizes one for a perfect slip fit onto 2/56 rod ends as well as 4/40 rod ends.

Derrol has been a reliable supplier to the the pylon folks for many years as well a pioneer in some techniques and special tools.

He is the only supplier that happens to have as far as I can tell the perfect slip fit for the 2/56 rod ends.

Peruse his site and read his tutorials on using the rods without special fittings. Here is a photo of one of my additions is a series of nicks on the portion of the rod to be bonded and cut randomly on the corner of a grinder stone. The method is so simple once you see it done you have perfect rods every time.

Fortunately I was able to connect my LHS up with Derrol and now even many of our students are using carbon rods in their trainers.

Hi!
Why not thin steel wire? I prefere it before carbon or alumium arrow shafts.Much lighter and does not conduct vibrations in the same way rods do to the servos.

I've used coated-kevlar very successfully for pull-pull systems, as well as flying wires... supposed to be stronger then steel I've heard/read.. and do believe..(I've never anything kevlar break, but I have had steel flying-wires break). Very light, and no Rf factor.
