Hi everyone. I'm looking at stepping up from the Apprentice S15e, but can't find anything definitive on whether the DX5e transmitter is compatible with the AR636 receiver, fully understanding that I wouldn't be able to use channel 6. I'm looking at something like the P-51D Mustang BNF Basic with AS3X® Technology which has the flaps assigned to channel 6 on the AR636, so could the DX5e still bind and fly channels 1-5? I'd rather not have to also upgrade the radio right away, so hoping that it would be good to go. Thanks!

As far as I know, you should be fine, and as well, use all 6 channels. Dx5e is actually a 6 channel in disguise. Do a search here to find out how. It is nothing to do, as I remember the trainer switch is the 6th channel.

If you got the Dx5e with the Apprentice, its a step up from a regular Dx5e. It should have a 3 position switch, for the three trainer functions . Don't know if that helps, if you look into the 6th channel you might have to look at the manual for that TX.
