Default What's so special about Hysol 9462 ?

I've run across a number of forums where the builder specifies use of Hysol 9462 epoxy. The stuff is expensive and kinda hard to find. What makes it better than the readily available epoxies from Zap, BSI, etc. ? Also there is an automotive filler that is super light weight and easy to sand that is being used... maybe a bondo or evercote product ? Anyone know the name of this product and maybe tried it ? Also since it's automotive, it is likely polyester. Is it likely this will have a problem sticking to a surface that has been glass coated with epoxy finishing resin ? Thx. much, 'buff

Hysol 9462 is an aerospace grade adhesive. The structural properties are way better than any of the rubbery brand hobby epoxies. Its not hard to find at all. Mcmaster-carr, dreamworksrc and many other places carry it.

the evercoat product you are looking for is called Easy Sand. It has no problems adhering to epoxy glassed surfaces.

Another advantage of the Hysol 9462, not mentioned, is that it is thixotropic, i.e. it stays where you put it and does not run.
