anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
anyone flown this plane? (delta wing)....
i got 3 big projects on the building board right now and thought i would get me a quick kit for somthing new, i hop down the LHS and se this laser arrow, not really being into that kind of thing (mostly scale stuff) i wasnt that taken by at first, but i got talking to this guy about it and he mentioned how fast it was to build and what a scream it was to fly, and at £50- ($100?) it wasnt out the way....
2 nights and it was basicly ready for the sky! i put a ASP 46 up front and headed for the field
the club guy were stunned as i usualy got the hurricane with me, so i got her ready and the old man launched her into the air.....
This thing is insane!!! lol i love this plane, your not worried about wrecking months of hard work so you are inclined to to a little more with it, its as fast as hell and flys on rails!!!!, with a 46 at the business end nothing at the field could touch it (can be fitted with a 60 motor)
i just didnt want to come in, had a ball of a time with this thing, if you want some fast and cheap fun grab this plane, dont worry about the building either if you have never built a plane its as simple as it comes...
anyone else got one of these?

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
hi again scalebuff.
i had one for a year and a half. very quick to build, not that fsat but score high on the fun factor. i had a piped os 45 on mine and it took off from a ramp sometimes for fun. i had a lot of throws on mine and it was nuts, waterfalls look good, (lots of down elevator throw for this), full power staright up and then full down elevator, keep it straight and it will do the tightest bunts you have seen, it would almost flat spin too.
i flew mine every flying day till it started to fall apart and was getting a bit dangerous, at which point i flew it one last time, landed it and went to pick it, when i got to it, i jumped on it! i loved the plane and am getting another.
heres pics
note these photos are with the sc 46.
the last pic is of me ripping the gear out of it on the field after jumping on it

a bigger engine wont make it faster, just heavier, its too draggy to go fats, you have probably reached the top speed with your 46.

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
ready for a surprise?
Lazer Arrow, Owner Terry Davies, 60 size, might have been a 65. went as fast vert, as on the flat, top speed had been reached.. speed on my little speed trap ( not the dopler thing, this was pylon ) 95MPH! lol a Old 46WXK Magnum the same day got 150, my own design Delta with MVVS 40 165.
these days on the doppler program the Magnums do 185, and Mini Rapiers with Leo 37(rpm) only on a muffler! do 150
Lazer Arrow with a 46 and it's the fastest thing there[:-] i can't quite get my head there

You guys have to come down a see for ya self[&:]
there is one guy the same as me into warbirds and his spit is a little slower than mine but he has a smoke system on his so i gues it slows him down a bit..
but the other guys just toodle around in the high wing jobs, so when my laser arrow is up i looks fast to there stuff

AH, a JE one, should be ok, but the high reving engine is all RPM and not alot of thrust. the Arrow on the otherhand is all drag.

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
Iv ordered a Jett 50 from the states but couldnt wait so asked just engines whats the one for revving. On the plane that got soaked it used to cruse arround on the standard 46 ....but then we went put a penny whistle pipe on it and then went down to 9x9 prop ...jeesus what a difference.

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
i think your getting confused with the GRRT..... 17.6K is about what the Jen Tunned MVVS 40 gets, tho you never said that...
i run a GRRT in a Magnum and it uses a 8x7 ( only because i can't get the right sized APC down here ) in a Magnum it's fine, but i think it's too highly strung to pull a great draggy delta about.. time will tell.
if i was you I'd crank the engine over and run the pipe INSIDE!!!!! the wing, make the most of that thick section. should also hide the engine well if you get it right.. be easier to do all this on the old kit, but the new ARTF a nightmare.
if it's still there look at my Magnum review at www.philsrcworld.fsnet.co.uk

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
fastttttttttttttttttttttt MVVS, rear induction rear exhaust, no throttle if you want to go really fast.
my 40 sized Magnum keeps up with the West 50 versions, just.
however if you have just the standard Jentuned MVVS 40 then you could still crank the exhaust around to the rear and have the pipe in the fuz.

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
you have to order them from the states, tho it's not hard to build one from scratch, it's just a few bits of ply and some carbon spars.

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
Ok today i had a go at running in the 40 "Quickie" and 5 tank fullls down the road ..it tried like hell to jump on the pipe.....i kept backing it off as it was way too early. the pipe wasnt even the right one as its for a 50 sized "JETT". Now Just engines are saying its now ready to go on the pipe cos its loosening up. I have my doubts. Must see about a GRRT!!! ..what pennys do i need im afraid to ask?

RE: anyone flown the Laser Arrow?
did they have 7.4x8.6? coz thats a GRRT prop
those MVVS take forever to run in so get it flying now! by the time it's run it it's worn out, but thats a long time away yet.
GRRT's aint cheap, 300ish last i remember.
