Default ESC use for BEC

Hi,ya'll out there in r/c land.Say listen i've got a question!Could a unused electronic speed control with a built in bec be used in place of having to buy a separate bec.It should seems how the only thing I think you would have to do is cut off the three motor wires.Everthing else should stay the same.

Sell the ESC on ebay, buy a UBEC and pocket the profit.

Maybe Yes, Maybe No,,,, it will work,,Just make sure the BEC has has the amp out put to power the servos you're using, UBECs typically are rate at 5-10amps more than enough power for a larger plane,, if you're taking a small ESC out of a small foamie, the bec might not cut it
