as the title says.but can it and if so what would you use for a set

Absolutely. Preheat the oil by running a couple of loops of tubing around the head or muffler inlet and inject it into the muffler.

It will as stated above. Not as thick as a gasser but it will. Also the bigger the glow the better. 1.20s will make a nice trail while a .60 size is so so. Wrapping the head a few times in copper tube help a lot. Depending on the engine there are some smoke mufflers available also. A smoke muffler has a coil built into it to heat the oil.
