Default Hydra-Locks?

Years ago, a product called Hydra-locks was offered to convert your air operatedd retract gear to hydraulic operation. Does anyone know why this was a good idea? I can see down sides in the form of leaks, added weight, bubbles in the system, but cannot think of any benefit. Has anyone had any experience with them?
Thanks,
John H.

It looks to me like an outstanding way to add weight without any significant functional improvement.

A wheel collar will slow down air retracts for the same effect.
