Default Painti9ng glow models?

What makes a paint nitro proof?
What is lusterkote, what type of paint?(enamal, latex, ect)
I need to clear a helicopter canopy and need to know what kind of paint to get,I know that lusterkote is nitro proof, but at 15.00 a can its a bit pricey.
My question- is enamal nitro proof?
If not what paint can I use?
Thanks in advance...................Brian

Canopy is the standard white plastic, fairly soft, not sure exactly what it is.
The canopy has been primed and painted, just need to clear to fuel proof.
The paint is testors model enamals.

If you are looking for a fuel proof clear to go over Testers Enamel you're pretty much limited to a water based polyurethane or possibly some type of acrylic automotive clear. Don't use LusterKote or anything like it, they will wrinkle the enamel.

I painted a large F-86 in camo colors using Testors Model Master paint. I asked a similar question of the guys in the Jets forum about clearcoating, in my case a flat clear. I was advised by several that PPG clear automotive paint can be used over Testors MM if you use very light mist coats for the first couple of coats or so. The PPG clearcoat I used is called Flexed n Flat clear. It provided a beautiful clearcoat and did not harm the paint.

If the canope is Lexan, you need a polycarbonate. Its a flexable coat and you need to spray the inside...

Polyurethane. Clear, flexible, fuel proof.
Remember, just because a paint doesn't SAY fuel proof dosen't mean it's not. It just a way of charging more for "airplane paint".
Do some experimenting, and you'll find that a LOT of paints are fuel proof (up to 25%) when completely dry (48-72 hrs)
