For all those trailer owners. Is this worth it?
I was just offered a 4 X 8 trailer at the cost of $50 I just went and looked at it and saw that it needed some minor work such as a paint job and a new deck. My question is it worth the trouble to make a box trailer out of it?
Thanks

In my opinion a 4x8 is too small. I have a 5x10 and I have run out of space in it. 6x12 would be great, but I cannot get one because it won't fit in the garage and the *&^&* homeowners association says it has to be garaged.

I bought an old delapitated camp trailer for $250 and gutted it
out to haul and store my models. One of the best investments
I made in this hobby. Seems my planes have grown and I am now
thinking of getting a 6x12' trailer.

Well, I used to own one 14'x8'x7' high. I had the frame built as I wanted it. Then covered and insulated it myself! Cost me quite a bit !
I found it to be very useful but a pain to park and secure it!
I finally sold it when I got out of the hobby . Boy, Lost my butt on it!
Well Now I'm back for some years now. I picked up a 92 Ford E-350. No windows or extra seats ! Just wide open like a trailer only much better for me! I don't need to use it at all so its like my traveling hanger. Easy to park and secure, wing racks, Fuse cradles and the beautiful part is to be able to transport 80" bipes like the Balsa USA Nieuport 17 fully assembled with 2 or 3 other large birds!
Trailers are nice to have but for myself I'm much happier with the Van
Just another viewpoint for what its worth
OH YEAH! It has front and rear air! A real plus here in sunny Southern California

i wouldn't mind having one of those old milktrucks with a new motor and all in it. seems like that would be the way to go. paint it purple and park in yur driveway too.....to #@$% with homeowners assoc.'s. there is a guy that comes to my clubs shows in an old step van....very nice...lots of room. -Tin-

Well its been a good month since I made this post. I had forgotten this one I guess. Well I made the purchase and I would have to say it was one of the most prized deals I have ever come across. The fact that I no longer have to pack planes and equipment from truck to house and vis versa is wonderful.
I have posted step by step detailed construction of the trailer on this thread.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...335&forumid=63
Here are a few quick peaks of start and finish.

Here are the upgrades 8" wheels to 12" and a battery/storage box on the front.
As I mentioned above if you want to see a detailed construction. thus far a have a good $400 bill into this project well worth it. If anyone has any questions on construction please feel free to contact by way of privet message or email.
Thanks
