Has anyone tried to make a canopy by heating a piece of a clear (or colored) plastic bottle over a wooden form ? The old Goldberg Skylark 56 just doesn't look right without a new classic canopy.

I've heard of guys tring that with varying degrees of success. Most had good luck with a heatgun laying the bottle over there mold, or plug. You have to be careful how you apply the heat. May take several attempts to get one you like.

Here's a link to an interesting discussion about canopies, molds, etc. The problem I have with the pop bottle material is that it is very thin and not very strong and stable.
