Default Cub wheel confusion

Just finishing up my 60 size GP cub and I am a little stuck on the wheels. I have a set of dubro and a set of GP cub wheels and I am not sure on how to fasten either one of them to the axles. If I use standard wheel collars on the outside of the wheel I can't get the little hub cap on, the collar sticks out to far. I thought maybe that the wheel collar went on the inside of the hub but
there is no place inside of either brand of hub to do this.
Do I need a thin wheel collar or am I completly missing something. How do I keep the wheels on?
I have no directions for either set of wheels so any help would be great.
Thanks
Jeff

I had the same problem you have. I trimmed a little off the side of the wheel collars. Also I trimmed a little out of the cap.

Default Cub wheel confusion

What about soldering a washer on the axle in lieu of a wheel collar? Easy to remove if you have to (at home anyway)

Default cub wheel install

soidering a washer works, also, wheel coller's are real soft, you can place a coller on its side on a flat surface with some 150, 180, 220 ect ect sandpaper and sand to width

Default collar

if you tighten yur wheel collar on a piece of old rod first then you can grind it to thickness safely. yur gonna have to remove metal almost all the way to set screw on one side to get it to work right.
if you do this ya will keep from losin a finger in yur grinder.
sure would be nice to see landing gear with a tapped hole in the end of the axle so ya could use a buttonhead screw to hold yur wheel on......hmmm maybe i should make some eh?
