Default Transportation

I've searched the site and I've seen references to it, but since I'm new I don't know exactly what I should do.

I drive a Ford F-250 with no cap/bed cover, and it's going to be tricky to transport my new LT-40. How dangerous are the wind forces upon the plane/wing? I've seen pictures of other members' PVC racks that they use in open truck beds, but what should I look out for or do in particular to ensure that the plane does not get damaged or escape?

I live fairly close to the field, i.e., no highway speeds, but I'd easily top 45 MPH.

I look forward to your responses.

Thanks,
Jeff

I used to transport my planes in the open bed of my S10, just bungee them down to the holddowns.

the closer to the front of the bed, the better.

In my Ford Ranger, I put two telescoping shower curtain rods (covered with pipe insulation) across the bed on each side of the wheel wells. Then I use shower curtain holders with rubber bands and wrap over the fuselage and wings of my planes. I cover everything with a lightweight tarp and cargo net - works well, unless you are expecting rain.

Thanks, guys. Because of the LT-40's wingspan I have to position it along the length of the bed. I just didn't want to assume that the wing can handle the buffeting of the wind.

I drive a ford ranger, I have an LT-40. I live pretty close to my field as well. I just put the fus on the wing and I can drive 45 with no prob.[8D]
