Default reversing Y harness

It seems there is a bit of bashing on reversing Ys, but are they really a problem? I'm needing to reverse an elevator servo and am considering this over digitals. Any input and experiences would be appreciated. Has any ever actually lost a plane because of one failing?

Thinking about digitals? Sounds more like you should consider a Tx upgrade, IMHO.

My Eclipse does just fine J_R, and yes I could set it up as a slave but the trim wouldn't work for the one servo. I guess I should mention it is a large 3D plane which I have designed for a 1.60FX and requires LOTS of torque for those extremely large surfaces, this is one reason I'm considering the digitals. I don't feel the need to upgrade to a $500-800 radio in order to split my elevator servos. Still open to comments.

I bought servo reversing Y harness from emsjomar.com for my GP Ryan STA-M and so far it works perfectly.

I have not had a problem with a reversing-y but have only used one. I am currently switching to Hitec digitals and also have the programmer. If you go with Hitec digitals and either have or know someone who has the programmer you can use the programmer to reverse one of the servos and also set the servo travel, speed and end-points to match.

I gave away my reversing-y.

BTW. I was told that reverseing-y's do not work well with digitals. I never tried the configuration but I have both heard and read that from different sources.

My .05.

Ditto.

I too have used a reverser with no problem, and I'm currently using some Hitec HS-5475HB's in a similar configuration. I borrowed a friend's programmer and reversed one of them. I like that system a lot.

I have used the Dual-Output ServoReverser from Precision Micro Electronics, Corpus Christi, Tx with no problems. Their Website Address is: www.pme-rc.com.
Works very well.

For those extremely large surfaces, have you ever considered using a servo tab to drive them? Altho I personally have never used them, I have seen them on a TOC model ( an Austrailian competetor practicing at our field), and of course, his performance appeared flawless.

Why not mount the servo for one half of the elevator "backward" ? I have a Gee Bee Y with an OS 1.60 in it. That is how the servos for the elevator are mounted in it.

I use them all the time. I have tried it both ways, master/slave and reversing y harness. I like the Y harness better. I fly giant scale using Hitec servos, not digital. I have 3 different airplanes flying, all using the Y reversing harness.
