Default How to cuta Cub cowl?

I have a Hanger 9 100 cub and just bought a fiberglass cowl to use as a split cowl so I can get it on and off over the OS 1.60 twin that I have mounted.

My question is that the cowl comes in two pieces, left and right. This means that the seam is split vertically. Most guys that I talk to say to split the cowl horizontally. If the put the cowl together and then cut it horizontally, won't that really weaken it too much?

I would go with it as is, but I am afraid that the seam will show up too much??

Any suggestions?

I understand what you're saying. Now, if I put the cowl together like that, can I still split is horizontally? Will the vertical seam be strong enough?

It should be, just apply plemty of fiberglass and CA. Make sure you rough up the plastic before you apply the fiberglass.
