Can I paint someting (a wheel pant say) with and store bought spray paint; Krylon, Rustoleum, etc and then come back and clear coat with PPG automotive ? Does anyone know if these store bought spray paints are compatable with PPG? I'd hate to have it start flaking off after a few weeks or months.

The only way you will know for sure it to try the particular paints that you intend to use. I just reciently painted PPG DAU 75 (catalyzed clear) over the top of some Pep Boys spray can stuff, and it worked just fine. Your results may vary.
