prop's
just my impute, I liked the look's of wood so I mounted one on my OS 40 thumper. When I tried to start it (chicken stick) it back flipped and split off a chunk (hitting the stick) so its composite props for me on 4 st's just my opinion Buz^ PS : I HAD NEVER HEARD ANY NO-NO's ABOUT USING THEM ON 4 ST.

Wood or plastic prop for four stroke?
I'm not big on name brands of ANYTHING, but I gotta say that I use nothing but Graupner props on my 4-strokes. They beat the hell out of anything else that I have tried. Try one of these babies:

Wood props & 4 Strokes
Wooden props with a 4 stroke engine are a bad idea. If you've ever tried to start your engine with a stick and had it fire in the wrong direction, you'll quickly see where I'm going with this. The weight of a 'glass prop makes it a better choice for 4s engines. If the engine quits in mid-air, before the prop stops rotating completely it will begin to enter a new compression stoke, not having enough power to make it through the compression stroke will allow the prop to "bounce" off the compression stroke. If it does this, and hits the compression stroke on the other side (counter-rotational) and fires, your prop, nut, lock nut and spinner will all be ejected from the plane. Ask me how I know! So it's MA props for me on all my 4s engines after that incident.
