Default Help in selecting correct speed controler

I need some help in knowing how to select a speed control with the correct Amps ( ex.- Jeti 8 Amp). I've been flying for a while now but I still get confused when trying to select a speed control on my own. How do you know how many Amps you need on the speed control. I know it depends on the battery and motor selection but I need some help.

Thanks guys.

There's no way for us to help if we don't know what motor, gearbox(if any), battery, and prop you plan to use. A very good method is to just look around and see what everyone else is using in similar setups.

Get a copy of MotorCalc (free D/L and 30 day use ) and plug the specs of the plane, prop, etc in the program. The results will show you the max amps the setup will draw (look through the spreadsheet ). Then figure a little higher as a safety margin so the "magic smoke" doesn't escape.
