Default RC clubs & flying fields near Palm Desert & Palm Springs, CA

Can anyone here tell me about R/C clubs and types of flying fields, i.e. electric, sport, Big Birds, etc., in or near Palm Desert or Palm Springs, CA.

I'm mainly a sport flyer myself, with mostly glow-powered .46 and .60-sized planes. I've also been getting started with some small electrics.

We live in the Portland, OR area but it looks like we'll be spending a few months at a time over the next few years living in the Palm Desert area at the Sun City complex there. What I remember the most from our previous trips down there was that it was HOT! [X(][&o]

I also recall that Palm Desert has an excellent air museum...

Thanks,
-- Rod

When ya get there, go to the local hobby shop and they have info on where the folks there fly. When I was there they were just getting a new field, I drove by but never got to fly on it. They are a great bunch. That was one of the few places in my travels that I ran into someone charging to teach flying. Oh Well it happens. You will like them I think and if you don't allready -- you WILL learn to get up early to go flying. ENJOY !!! RED

SBD-5.....What club did you join in New Hampshire? Your profile shows no club affiliation. Also, what is the web address for the AMA site that lists the area clubs?

There really isn't any big an prominent L.H.S. in that area any more. Used to be downtown P.S. and in Indio. If you are motorhoming in, and need glow fuel, consider stopping off in Redlands, at the big shopping center and tanking up there.

Uncle Don's Hobby was an awesome store in Palm Desert.
Below is a link so I assume they are still there.

In Indio there is a large paved field.
They will probably charge you to flu there.
When they had their Grand Opening they charged non members to fly.

Things should be cooling off now, probably less than 110.
I loved it there.

Have Fun,
