Default Weight problem

I recently completed my 2nd AeroNaut CL-415 kit (The first one was "shot down" by some kids racing cars using an aircraft transmitter ). This is an electric twin engine "water bomber" with a GRP (light weight fiberglass ) fuselage and vertical fin.

The problem:

The second plane (without batteries), using the same motors, ESC and servos, is coming in about 11oz - 12 oz HEAVIER than the first plane. The first plane came in at 59 1/2 oz. This plane is weighing in at 71 oz.

The ONLY difference is the covering on the main wing. I was running short on Coverlite, so I used Ultracote. This is a 500 sq inch wing, so there should only be about a 3 oz difference in weight.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to lighten this up ?

As it stands now, I will have to replace the motors AND ESC to get adequate power.

Thanks

Default RE: Weight problem

only thing i can think of is the fibeglass fuselage is heavier than the first either due to too much resin or extra cloth.i thought plastic coverings were lighter that the cloth iron on coverings.
