My husband is an RC enthusiast, and I am working on his Christmas present - I just don't know what to get for him. I know he wants a stunt plane (from his not so subtle hints), and I also know he wants a .60 engine. He currently is using a JR XF622 with his MDS .48 engine - will this radio work with the .60 engine? [Can you tell I know absolutely nothing about this?] Any recommendations as to what I should buy would be greatly appreciated. I would like an ARF, since he does not have a lot of extra time to build.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for any suggestions!

Make it easy on your self..get him a gift certificate at his favorite hobby shop. This way he can pick out exactly what he wants. If my wife supported my hobby I'd be thrilled to get a gift certificate.

The 662 has no effect on the engine, so he can use it with any engine you're looking at. If he's currently using a MDS, you can make him really happy and get him something like an OS .61FX or (a little cheaper) a Thunder Tiger .61 Pro.
As far as kits (or ARF's), give us a little info as to what his interests are. Does he like fun-flying, or is he into precision aerobatics. Would he like a scale plane (that looks like the real plane) or a plane that is designed to be a model (no resemblance to a real plane)? And how much are you going to be spending?
There are about 17,000 people here who would be happy to help.

I would recommend asking one of his flying buddies. They would Know exactly what airplane he would like. Too many mistakes could be made, otherwise.
If you can't do that for some reason, a big pretty box with a brick and a gift certificate.

I think it's great that you're this supportive .. is he wanting the stunt plane in .60 size ? Does he want to put that engine in a stunt type plane ? For that type of plane, there are a variety of sizes, but look at the Local Hobby Shop and check on kits (ARF - Almost Ready to Fly) and check on the Cap 232 and Edge 540 .. there are a variety of sizes
Good Luck !

Hi again -
Thanks for the suggestions -
Here is a little more info - David is a "fun-flyer" and loves to do all the fancy rolls and flips and sometimes flops!
I've budgeted around $500, but could go a little higher if necessary. It appears I do not have to buy a new radio, so that's a plus.
I've been reading about the U-Can-Do 3D - any comments on this one.
By the way, I'm his current "flying buddy" - so you can plainly see how far my info is going to get him!
Thanks!

I'd check out the Morris Hobbies ARF Knife. For the money you have alloted you can get the Knife a Saito 72 four stroke the flight pack and still have enough left over to go out and eat. www.morrishobbies.com......John

I am almost finished with my U-CAN-DO. It looks like it will be a very fun plane. There are a lot of comments on this site about it. Another option would be the Kyosho Flip, but the down side is both planes are on backorder until late Nov. or Dec.

Here's what my wife has done in the past, and it works best for me...
I get a little box with a few magazine cutouts of an airplane(s) engine, radio, I want and a gift certificate. That way I know what she wants me to spend it on, and I get to choose my own poison.
I like it!

I wish my wife would budget $500.00 for an RC related gift for me. She doesn't even take subtle hints well. Had to go buy my own heli. I guess separate checking accounts has it's advantages....I personally like the gift certificate idea and the pictures of the planes.....Let him pick for himself.
