Default installing floats

I'm getting ready to bolt on my floats. What is the proper place to put them as to the c/g, the step on the float, and how much should the float be ahead of the prop. The fuse is 51" and the floats are 36". I'm running a 12-6 prop, I have heard the prop should be half it's length in front of the floats ( this would be 6" in this case), but it does't come out that way. Any help in this is greatly appreciated. The way I have it now is the float and the prop are about in line and this doesn't seem right.

Tip of float 2" ahead of prop, step 1/2" behind cg and rear of float
close to mid point between trailing edge of wing and leading edge
of horizontal stab as you can get it. First two items are most important.
