i just purchased a magnum 6 channel univeresal dual conversion micro reciever on channel 60 from a friend. what type of crystal would i need to buy to make it work with an older tower radio on channel 40,

i'm not sure but do i need to buy a magnum crystal or can i just use any crystal on the same channel

It is always best to use a crystal from the original manufacturer of the receiver. Oscillator circuits can be quite different in different brands and, if they work at all, they may not give you the necessary range and selectivity. To be safe, always use the manufacturers crystal.
