Default Saito 120

I have a Saito 120 that I have been running in my PT-17 Stearman (GP) for abou 8 hours. (16x8 prop) I have a three line fuel system with the vent line running to the exhaust pipe. When I defuel the plane after several flights the fuel comes out much darker (blacker) than when it went in. It looks like aluminum. When I filter this fuel through a paper filter the filter turns dark gray. I realize you should get some residue when breaking in a new engine but how long should it last??? I am defueling into a seperate bottle so I don't ruin a good bottle of fuel. Any suggestions????

Default RE: Saito 120

The 16x8 prop is too big for your Saito 120 to swing. That prop is normally used on a Saito 150. You should be swinging a 15x8 prop. In fact, you should be swinging an even slightly smaller prop than a 15x8 during break in because you do not want to overload the engine during that time.
