rossi 45 2000 with mini pipe questions ?
Does yours load up and mid and low range ? Seems like Iv'e tryed
every thing plugs, fuel, settings ,numeous carb adustments to the book ! And can only fly 2/3 or less throttle for about 2 or 3 minutes before flame out . I have been flying it that way for two
seasons trying to guess when i need to go to full throd to clean it out and keep flying .Most of the time I can keep it going BUT
IS real aggravating .
Im fairly good at engines and have disasembled and repaired a few/ but this one got me stumped !
I even tryed a perry pump I had settin around and it helped a little .
I have read these motors are hard to set /They sure weren't
kidding !
Just seems I can't get it rich enough for the high end to keep
it from going lean and hot when it comes on the pipe . And lean enough for the low end
to keep it from loading up. It will run with the low needle almost all the way in . I did the blow thru test and have backed it out from shut 1/8 turns with very little change !
Has any one tried a perry carb ? Or would it be a a waste
Any help would be appreciated Ron

Rossi
I use them on my profiles and went through a learning process as you have. I only use Perry carbs on my engines as some or most of the stock carbs leave lots to be desired and don't do it for me. I'm picky and want throttle transition and response when I want it. Once you get the Rossi tuned, it's awsome with gobs of power. Don't give up on it. Once you get a good carb you can use it with other engines or just keep using it with other Rossis'.
Don't use more than 5% nitro and keep the oil content less than 20% with dilligient attention to the high speed needle. Don't always try to get the last blessed rpm out of the engine. They aren't the lightest, but they are powerful_bob

Bob /// do you remember what size carb the perry was ? and was it larger or smaller bore ?
I have a older 50 size carb, a old como, they where made by super tigre . It looks a little bigger / but a well made carb .I would have to make a sleave though . Thanks Ron

You should be running atlest a 11+5 I am running a 12+4 and i may go to 12+5 or 13+3.25. for the flying you do with this planes you want high rpms and the plane not to move too fast so and have plenty of vertical power so you to Bigger dia. prop + less pitch. will give you good vertical power.
If you change the carb i think you will end up with more problems then you want. I have run O.S. and the rossi the rossi is a lot harder to tune ,But you do have too prop it enough to load the motor in the rpm range it supost to run in.
Hope this helps . Later Keith P.S. if you need any help you can email me .

ROSSI Prop
I have the Rossi .45 on my Pizazz running a 12.25 X 3.75 prop. It pulls it around great. My engine was a tough nut to crack when new also. I put a OS #9 plug on it and it helped greatly. Running Wildcat 10%. Very touchy carb adjustment as everyone knows by now, but once set, really rips!

carb
a shorter spray bar allowed the low end needle to be tightened even more. great low end and mid range after this modification.
enigne will idle all day long and not conk out.
