Default HELP Engine mount problems on a Tower KAOS

I have a Tower KAOS ARF. I am putting an OS 46 LA on the front of it and am having clearance problems. The stock engine mount has metal straps that hole the engine down. In order to mount the engine with the straps there is not enough clearance for the backer plate of the spinner. The plate is hitting the front of the fuselage making it impossible to complete the mount. My question is this: should I take the mount off of the plane and put a couple of washers behind it moving the mount further forward on the plane and giving me the popper clearance or can I just put a couple of washers on the crank shaft of the engine behind the spinner plate thus moving the plate out past the front of the fuselage?

Additional: If I move the engine mount out with washers behind I will mess up the front axle clearance and have to move the mounting hardware for the axle further out from the fire wall with the engine mount due to the axle fitting into the engine mount itself!!

Thanks for the help!! Kilmerelrc
