Hello,
I bought an Expert on board glw driver unit and it does not seem to send enough current to the glow plug to become red. I have removed the plug from the motor and held it very tight against the motor and viewed the element. I connected it as per instructions and I use a 4.8 V 600 mah battery. What may be the problem ? This is the second unit I am trying. The first one did not light the glow.
Thanks

Hi Tom. I have two of the Expert units. Both of mine run on a SINGLE CELL AA 2500ma NiMH battery. 4.8 volts is too much voltage, and unnecessary weight. Now, with that said, you can expect 100ma per minute drain with the glow plug on. I can fly my Skybolt approx. 10 flights before my glow battery dies. That translates into 20-25 minutes of idle, taxi, and throttling back in the air. My glow turns on at the low end 20-25% of throttle.

I am also having a problem with the Expert driver. With one plug, I get a bright orange, but add second plug(twin-engine installaion) and both plugs barely glow. Using 1650 mah nickel hydride 6v battery. Grounded to engine mounting lug.
