Default cordless starter

I'm looking for the lightest battery powered cordless starter. Any suggestions on a really light weight one that is suitable for starting 46 size engines?

Thanks,
Bob

Bob,

I am not sure what you consider light weight, but all I can say is that I really like my Hobbico Torque Master 90/Power Core combo. It weighs almost 5# though.

Bob:

Either a Magnum or Kavan geared starter with (2) 6 cell car battery packs. Mine weighs in at about 3 pounds and is totally portable.

Check the following thread for more info and pictures.

I have both the Kavan and the Pacific Aero starters, and I really like the Pacific Aero geared starter with dual 7.2V car battery packs.

Here is a short video of me starting a Brison 2.4 gasser with it: [link=http://www.warbirdobsession.com/starters/starting_brison24.wmv]PAM Super Starter Video[/link]

The gell cell type of battery pack doesn't seem to put out the current like NiCads do. I'd recommend avoiding them. I'm speaking of this type of device: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXL372&P=ML I've had several students with them and they just don't perform.

Bob--

Here is another source for cordless starters.

I have had mine for a year now and it has been great.
