Default Trim tape unsticking

A while back I asked a question regarding methods for preventing trim tape ends unsticking. The answer given was to use a drop of CA which apparantly works well. I tried this but the CA i was using doesn't seem to work on the Profilm covering and I wonder whether someone could point me in the right direction as to which CA works best.

Thanks Guys

Tony

topwinguk, do some sweet talk to the girlfriend/wife, and use her clear nail polish. It comes with its own brush , and you just paint along the edges of the trim and presto , it is sealed and fuel proof as well.

Was the covering cleaned with Alcohol, or some other solvent first before applying the CA?

I've probably tried everything to get it to stick. No Luck. Maybe a couple flying days and it is coming off again. I use my heat gun and slowly heat up the trim and remove it. Then remove the glue with acetone. I buy good trim sheets and make new trim. If it is pin-stripping I buy 3M tape from an auto body shop supplier and this sticks much better than the stuff you get at hobby shops. Good Luck!

Hi!
Well, best plastic covering is definitely Oracover, still I brush on some 2 part auto laquer on the edges to make it "bullet proof"
Trim will stay on for years that way. I always makes my own trim from Oracovers plastic film covering.
I use max temperature on my covering iron.

Regards!

jaka,

Where did you get that Cherokee and who is the manufacturer? Are they still making them or have they been discontinued? A website or contact number would be much appreciated. I have a Midwest Cherokee 40 that I made to look exactly like my full scale Cherokee 140. I'm afraid to fly it because it's discontinued and I have looked for 6 months for another to build and fly with no luck. Please help.
