I want to covert a stik type plane to a taildragger. It's a World Models Super Stunts 60 -- a tricycle setup and looks like a Great Planes Big Stick 60 with a bigger wing span, It has a horizontal stab which sits on the bottom of the fuse and is removable (3 screws, unclip the clevis attached to the elevator control horn). I'd like to convert this plane to a tail dragger but keep the removal stab feature. I was thinking of rebuilding the stab as a split elevator to facilitate attaching the tailwheel to the rudder, but am not sure how the tail wheel assembly will work with the removable stab with or without the split elevator modification. Any ideas?

My suggestion would be for a simple tail skid in front of the stab. I have 1/16" music wire as a skid on my 46 and 70 size Katana's without any loss of ground steering. With a partial candy cane bend at the end of the wire, it doesn't create any noticeable drag. Is there a way to add a hard wood wedge block in front of the stab? I don't know how to add a sketch on here, but I could take a photo of the style on my planes if that would help.

I've moded already built planes to tailwheels..
A Goldberg tail wheel mount would let you slip the control wire into a loop on the rudder.
