Propeller moves when tightning nut
It seems I always have a problem when installing a new prop with a plastic spinner backplate behind it. You know the little round things on the backplate that the prop touches for alignment. The prop always seems to move when you tighten the nut because the prop is about the only thing to hold onto when tightening. Does anyone know a better way? Or is just the way it is.

Jerryj39,
Try gluing a small round piece of 300 grit sandpaper to the prop hub backside. This should give enough friction to prevent movement while you tighten the prop nut.

before you hold the prop turn your wrench until the piston starts to come up on compression then hold the prop and finish tightening. Have had succsess with this method at times. Another way is to put a small nylon cord into the glow plug hole and let the piston come up against it.

On my Saito 150, I pinned the backplate to the prop by drilling a small hole through both pieces. A short piece of copper wire keeps the backplate from turning.
