RE: cleaning the plane
I use a generic brand of window cleaner - similar to Windex.
I hear that some put a squirt of liquid dish washing detergent in theirs so I am going to try that the next time I fly.

RE: cleaning the plane
The Glass Doctor makes a cleaner which works very well. I use a clean paper towel to whip most of the gunk off first and then the cleaner to remove the last of the residue. Change towels often.

5 cups (40 ozs) water
1 cup (8 oz) rubbing alcohol
1/2 cup ( 4 oz) ammonia
2 teaspoons (1 oz) liquid dishwasing detergent
Spray on surface, then wipe with hand. You will see it foam. Then wipe off with a paper towel. Works great!

RE: cleaning the plane
Some time ago there was advice given to avoid any ammonia product in/around electronic components, particularly connectors which migh have gold contacts. Ammonia will attack the metal causingaccelerating the dreaded black wire. I pass this on for what it's worth.

i use rubbing alchol, the 70% and wip it with absorbant soft cloth, i use that on my composite planes and also my helis. i think it works good, especilly when it comes time to patch, it takes greese/oil of good.
