Default Saito . 72 stuttering

I have a saito 72 in a funtana X-50. I have ran two gallons of coolpower 15% 2-Stroke fuel threw it. It has always ran like a champ never giveing me any tronble. I have had it put up for two months with marval oil in it. Today i took it out an blew the oil out of it an fired it up an it just dont run right. It kicks back alot, can't get it to idle down to a good slow idle. My fuel is fresh. Has a new hanger 9 four stroke plug. I worked ith the high speed needle some an didn't make it any better. I really don't want to mess with the low speed needle as i'm not a great tuner. If anyone has any ideas what might be wrong please let me know....Thanks

Don't be afraid of the low speed needle. You don't need to "mess" with it , just close it 1/8 turn at a time and see if that helps. You have to start troubleshooting somewhere.

Another debugging technique you can use is once you have it at the best idle you can achieve, pinch the fuel line. If the engine speeds up, your low speed needle was rich and needs to be leaned a bit. Four strokes will likely kick back if they are too lean.

Remove the HS needle, open the throttle, remove line from carb nipple and apply your fuel filler to the needle valve body and pump some fuel thru. Watch your eyes, the fuel will squirt from the nipple. This will usually remove any carb blockage.

Have you checked the valves. I had the same problem and found the intake valve was way out of spec. Readjusted and problem solved.

Jim i have not checked the lash on the valves yet. I still have the tools to do it with. I just rotate the prop till there is no presure on eaither of the rocker arms right?. Does it need to be a really tight fit with the feler or does it need to have some slop?.........Yes brand new hanger 9 four stroke glow plug...

Just pulled the valve covers off of it. I was about to lose the ext rocker, an the int rocker has three times the slop as it needs............Jim i think you pointed me in the right direction....Thanks a ton.

Valve clearence is a feel thing with the gauge. It should be snug to the feeler gauge. Rotate the prop as you said till the piston is Top Dead Center. I remove the plug and use a plastic handle from a paint brush in the hole to find TDC.

Have not used Hanger 9 plugs, all my 4 strokes use FOX Miracle plugs.

Let me know if the 72 is better.
