Default Servo Glue?

O.K. I joined the 3d fad and bought a Rc universe biplane. (flatout foamie) looks like fun, but one thing bothers me. The instructions state to glue the servos in place. GLUE??? Is this a normal procedure? What kind of glue are we talking about here? I sure would hate to ruin a servo case on a foam airplane.
Anyone have any insight on this?

Rough up the side of the servo a bit with 100 grit sand paper and stick it on with hot glue. Its strong enough and then later you can pop off the glues.

...or use double-sided sticky tape. the stuff that has a little padding to it. don't know how well it would stick to foam though.

Hot glue works great--just make sure it's snug fit first.

Wrap your servo in masking tape, then use hot melt glue to fix it to the airplane. When the foamie is no more, just unwrap the tape and start over with new tape for the next one. Good luck, Dzl

RTV sealant will hold a small servo nicely.

Dzl--I use tape around a servo when glueing in with Goop, but really isn't necessary with hot glue. That stuff holds well and peels of easily.

Thanks guys! I will go to the Hardware giant store and get a hot glue gun... ( I always wanted one anyway, great for making temporary jigs) and use it to stick the servos on.
Low temperture hot glue gun.... is that an oxymoron?

Why can't you use small bolts and washers?

Gibbs--there's nothing for them to bite into on a foamy. Hot glue is the way to go.

FlyingGreg,

OK, I haven't ever had one so you should know. I thought they had enough beef to them so that he could drill a small hole and just use the bolts, washers, and nuts. Hot glue sounds like it is the most popular method anyway.
