Magazine Subscription
My fiance is getting me a subscription to an rc airplane magazine for Christmas. I wanted to get the opinions of others as to what magazine is the best for info on flying tips and techniques as well as model information and news and reviews. Let me know what you think. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Model Airplane News is what i get, tons of info on everything engines, plane reviews, tons of do it yourselves, tips, and the event reports are great with tons of pictures, This is the only magazine i have had so i have nothing to compare it to but i think it's great

If you looking for airplanes and engines, R/C Report is by far the best. Electrics, helos, etc. MAN is good, but the reports are skimpy. MAN has the best pictures and adds, but short on technical. You get the best technical with R/C Report.

I get, or have gotten all them at some point in time. For the money and content, I feel R/C Report is the best value and other then Model Aviation which comes with simply being a member of the AMA, is the best in my opinion. I don't see much difference between Fly R/C and Model Airplane News which I agree are pretty much just catalogs (not that we don't need catalogs to keep abrest of what is going on in this hobby). I also like R/C Sport Flyer (formerly R/C 3D Flyer) which has some pretty indepth articles and very good content. John Glezellis (one of the top R/C flyers in the country) is a frequent and prolific contributor to this magazine. I really like what John has to say. The only bad thing about R/C Sport Flye,r is it is only bi monthly. Price wise it is another very good value.

Thanks for all the great advice guys. I also wanted to ask about any videos or books that are out there that anyone may want to recommend for 3D and precision flying. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks again for all the posts. Keep them coming!

The best one that's left is R/C Report. The others are staffed by folks who never met a model airplane that they didn't like. Any time that there is nothing wrong reported, then the review is suspect in my book. Gordon Banks (publisher of R/C Report), requires an honest review. There is a definite lack of slick advertisements in his magazine, which also tells me that it's hard to buy him.

Is RC Report mainly for larger planes?
Do they cover 40-60 sized glow stuff sometimes?

Stick and all, I've also noticed that every single test flight talked about in reviews now-a-days flys straight and level with no trim needed, what-so-ever! I really find this hard to believe and think were being feed a line of bull!
