Default 7/16th Aileron Stock?

Guys

I'm looking to replace the Ailerons on my Tower Hobbies Kaos. They measure .420 <7/16> thick with a 1" cord. I can not find aileron stock listed as 7/16th.

I do however have some 3/8 by 1 1/2 but it measures .340 NOT .375"??

Ideally I'm looking for the same width <.420 or 7/16th> but with an increase to 1.5"s . Any help would be welcomed!

Thanks Guys

sometimes you just have to get something close and just cut it to what you need

Fair enough for sure. However it seems odd suppliers list up to 3/8 <and it's not even 3/8!> and no thicker.

Did you ever measure a 2x4 ???? They arn't. Most wood is aproximant size. I have received batches of 3/32" sheet stock that varied in thickness by a bunch. Not quite a full 1/32, but close. Like Draftman said, get one a bit bigger and sand it down. Get a 1/2" x 1 1/2" piece and work from there.

Ok Guys Perhaps I should start fresh with the question.

At this time searching for aileron stock the largest I can find is 3/8. I need 7/16th! I can for sure cut down... but up?!?!

Yes I understand current 2x4s start out as such then are milled semi-true!

So guys, where can I find some 7/16 aileron stock?

Why not glue two 1/4" pieces together and sand as necessary to get the desired shape?

Best to make your own, not too hard to do. YOu just need a stock piece, ruler, pen, razor plane and a sanding block. Doesn't take long to do, and it beats looking/running around for what you can't find.

I have taken 36" stock that was over sized as to the thickest dimension desired, rip it to the proper width. Then I got 2 pieces of music wire the proper dimension for each thickness of the desired aileron stock. Then I glued both ends of the wood to my glass table top with one of the lengths of music wire glued to the glass along each side of the wood. Then I would get out my vibratory electric sander and proceeded to sand the wood down till it bottomed out against the music wire. This way you can make tapered stock (or any stock) come out whatever thickness you can find music wire for.
