Default Clearcoating question

What do you need to do before you clearcoat over (insert brand name here) covering? Specifically what to use to clean surface of fingerprints, etc. I want to do this to seal some trim, and decided to do the whole plane. Any advice is appreciated!

If you are using glow power, must be fuel proof clear. Gas you can use polyurathane. clean with auto degreaser like prepsol or any one of the products sold by local paint dealers. Tac and then spray. On models using glow I recomend Nelsons clear. They have both gloss and flat.

Thanks Gary, but what should I use to clean (and prep) the covering before applying the clear so it will adhere, or am I overthinking the problem again?
