What is the best way to remove monokote from a fully sheeted airplane?

Use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive in the Monokote and pull off the sheeted wood. Use a pliers or something else to hold the Monokote with so that you don't burn your fingers. Unfortunately it's not going to come off cleanly and you'll have to pick pieces of with tweezers or something else. Another downside to Monokote is that they color is in the adhesive, so when the covering is off the wood will be stained whatever color the covering was. You'll need to sand the wood to remove that coloring.

I was just doing that very thing tonight. The easiest way for me is to use a heat gun and keep the monokote hot as you pull it off. Works great for me. If you get to and edge that you cannot get started then put lots of heat on that edge until the monokote starts to draw up and shrink. Then you will be able to pick it with your finger nail and pull it off.

Never had to take any off...It has always done it on it's own after that high speed impact thing. My son calls it the boof noise.[8D]
