Remote Mounted Carb
I've had good luck remotely mounting the mixture screw for my OS46FX.
Has anyone attempted to remove & mount the carb itself somewhere else on the plane, car, or boat (with a manifold or hose)? I wondered if the engine could pull the mixture that far to run?
After all, all that's needed is to get the fuel/air mix into the engine, right. ie: Eddlebrock has made a fortune in auto engine manifolds?
Just wondering????????

RE: Remote Mounted Carb
Long ago I had a Kress ducted fan that used an .09 or a .15 or something. I don't remember why but the carb was removed from the engine and mounted outside the duct with a plastic hose between the carb and the engine. It was a straight shot and just a couple of inches but it seemed to work.
I don't know what the practical limit would be for distance. Probably not much.

RE: Remote Mounted Carb
Dunno about model 2 strokes, but with a 4 stroke engine, the powerband can be tuned by altering the intake manifold volume. As I recall (I could have this backwards), a larger manifold results in better low end torque at the expense of high end power, and vice versa....
I would think a rotary valve 2 stroke would be more tolerant of this, since the induction is in 2 stages, but I'm not sure... Be interesting to find out!
