Default Engine cleaning?

was just wondering if their is an easy way to restore a good finish to an engine. My buddy said something about antifreeze? I figured a good run on the wire wheel would help.

Thanks. Pete

Yep, cooking the engine in a crockpot on high with old style green antifreeze will clean it up. Must use heat and since the antifreeze is poisonous, don't ever cook in the crockpot again. I suspect the wire wheel will scratch the soft aluminum parts of your engine.

Whatever you do if resale of the engine is ever a possibiltiy down the line then stay aways from it with a wire wheel or manual wire brush.

If it were a collectable type then doing that would instantly make the engine pretty much worthless.

Pete, there is a ton of info on here about cleaning an engine with anti-freeze and a crock pot. the one thing you do not want to do is to cook it on highonly use low as high will ruin the looks permently.
I agree that a wire brush would not be a good idea.

Try Dawn Power Dissolver. Spray on, wait a minute, wipe off.
Here is what I did for a muffler: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=5929584]Removing Glow Fuel Residue[/link]
