Default What size engine?

I have a low wing Piper Cherokee with 480 sq." of wing area. The plane is heavier than it should be due to painting it with Imron. I estimate the all up ready for takeoff weight, except fuel, will be 6.5 lbs.

What size engine should I use assuming just a sport flyer with very limited basic aerobatics flying off of grass? I think I would prefer a 2 stroke motor. How about a .46 pro?

All help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

The OS 55 would be my choice. It gives you a little extra punch W/O a weight or size penalty. The .46 will fly it, just with not as much authority.

I agree the 46 would be a bit limiting. I feel better too much than not enough power.

I think the .46 is ok but the real problem no matter what engine is your plane will have a tendency for high speed stalls and a high landing speed; shallow climb outs and flat fast approaches will keep it alive.
