dp 120 ultimate+gas engine = ?
Hi guys,
thought i would go to the experts on this one. Was thinking of purchasing a dp 120, and wondered if this thing would work with a gasser on the front. Would that be more economical? more powerful? possible? or just a big pain in the rear? seems like you can pick up the smaller gas engines for a lot cheaper than something like a ys 120 or 140. any input at this point helps a lot. thanks,
Josh

I've decided to put one of my MVVS 1.60s on my DP Ultimate. This engine is fairly lightweight and powerful - its about equal powerwise to a good 4C 1.50.
I don't think that one of the inexpensive 25cc weedeater conversions would be a good choice for this plane - those engines are a little too heavy for such a lightly-built plane.

i did a rcs 1.4 on mine for about 10 flights, it was great on gas but lacking in performace. The bird weighed in @ 12 3/4 with the rcs 1.4. I could only get 2 of 4 point on the uplines before i ran out of steam. yes it would hang on the prop for about 3 seconds at 7/8 throttle. :stupid:
